# Agent permissions

Choose when the agent can use your connected accounts in chat and when it must ask you first.

Choose how the agent uses the accounts that you [connected in **Account › Connections**](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/agent-tools) by setting a permission for each action that a service offers.

## Choose a permission

To set what the agent can do with a connected account, follow these steps:

1. Open the account menu, and then select **Connections**.
2. On the service's card, click **Permissions**.
3. For each action, select **Always**, **Ask first**, or **Never**.

The following table shows how each permission controls the action.

| Permission | What happens |
|---|---|
| **Always** | The agent runs the action without asking first. |
| **Ask first** | The agent waits for your approval in the thread. |
| **Never** | The agent can't run the action through this connection. |

Actions marked **Makes changes** default to **Ask first**. Actions marked **May delete or overwrite** can't be set to **Always**.

These permissions belong to your connected account and apply in threads that you start.

## Answer an Approval card {#approval-cards}

When an action requires your approval, the thread shows an **Approval** card. Review the service, action, and values on the card, and then choose an option:

- **Approve:** runs this call once.
- **Always allow** (when offered): runs this call and sets the action's permission to **Always** for future calls. You can change the permission later in **Account › Connections**.
- **Decline:** cancels this call.

Only the person who started the thread can answer the card. Teammates can view the card and see who it's waiting for.

An unanswered approval request expires after 1 hour. After you approve a call, the agent has 1 hour to run it.

## Troubleshooting {#if-something-goes-wrong}

For an expired approval or an account that needs reconnecting, see [Troubleshoot connections](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/troubleshoot-connections).
