# Android test build

> This page is about FlutterFlow (the app builder you use by describing your app), not FlutterFlow Studio.

URL: https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/android-test-build

Prepare an Android test build of your app in Releases, then download it and install it on your Android phone.

Prepare an Android [test build](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/glossary#test-build) of your app and install it on your own Android phone.

You need an [App ID](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/app-details#app-id). FlutterFlow builds from your app, not a thread, so [push](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/push) your changes first.

## Prepare the Android app {#prepare-the-android-app}

Use the **Android app** row in **On your phone** to prepare an installable test build:

1. Open **Releases** and select **On your phone**.
2. In the **Android app** row, select **Prepare Android app**.
3. Wait until the row shows **Ready** and the version number, such as **Ready · 0.1**.

If your app is connected to Google Play, FlutterFlow also sends the build to your Google Play testing track. See [Send to testers](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/send-to-testers).

## Install the app {#install-the-app}

When the build is ready, **On your phone** shows how to download and install it:

1. Download the build to your Android phone:
   - **From a computer:** scan the QR code with your Android phone's camera.
   - **On your Android phone:** select **Download Android app (.apk)**.
2. Open the downloaded file on your Android phone.
3. If Android prompts you, allow your browser to install apps, and then tap **Install**.

## Ask the agent for the Android app {#ask-the-agent}

You can also ask [the agent](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/glossary#the-agent) in a thread to build the Android app:

> Example request: "Build the Android app so I can install it on my phone."

The agent builds your app's pushed state, so it asks you to push any unpushed changes first. An **Android app** **Version** card tracks the build. When the build finishes, select **Show the code** on the card to open **On your phone** and install it, or select **Open in Releases** to view it in **Releases**.

## Troubleshooting {#if-something-goes-wrong}

For problems preparing or installing the app, see [Troubleshoot sharing and phone installs](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/troubleshoot-sharing).
