# Pictures

> This page is about FlutterFlow (the app builder you use by describing your app), not FlutterFlow Studio.

URL: https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/pictures

Ask the agent to add or replace the pictures in your app, and fill spots that show a placeholder instead of a picture.

To add a picture to your app or replace one, ask [the agent](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/glossary#the-agent) in a [thread](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/glossary#thread). Say which screen the picture goes on, where on the screen, and what it must show.

## What to ask {#what-to-ask}

To add or replace a picture, name the screen and the spot, and describe what the picture must show.

> Example request: "Add a photo of a bowl of ramen to the top of the Menu screen."

> Example request: "Replace the pictures on the Listings screen with photos of small wooden cabins. Make each one different."

Pictures that FlutterFlow finds for you, in your first version or later in a thread, are either a suitable picture that FlutterFlow already has or a new picture made to match the request.

## Replace placeholders {#gradient-placeholders}

In your [first version](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/glossary#first-version), a placeholder, such as a color gradient, stands in for a picture that hasn't arrived yet or couldn't be added. Right after the first version is ready, some pictures might still be arriving. While the screen is open, each one replaces its placeholder when it arrives. A spot that doesn't get a picture keeps its placeholder.

To fill a spot that keeps its placeholder, ask for a picture in a thread, and name the screen and the spot:

> Example request: "The banner on the Home screen shows a gradient instead of a photo. Put a photo of a busy farmers' market there."

## Your own photos {#your-own-photos}

To use your own photos or logo, attach the files to your message and tell the agent where each one goes. For the file types and steps, see [Logo and fonts](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/brand-assets).

## Agent questions {#what-the-agent-may-ask-you}

If your request leaves something open, such as which screen a picture belongs on, the agent can ask you in a **Question** card. To continue, [answer the question](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/answer-the-agent#question).

## Review {#check-the-result}

When a turn adds or changes pictures, its **Summary** shows a row such as **3 pictures**, with **New pictures** or **Updated pictures**. Open the row to see the pictures. Then check that each picture is on the right screen and in the right spot, and that the crop shows what matters.

<Mock name="pictures-summary-row" alt="A turn's Summary with the pictures row open, showing its thumbnails." />

After the agent finishes, read the turn's [**Summary**](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/what-changed#summary) and review its [**Changes**](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/what-changed#changes-tab). Check the affected screens in **Screens**, and try the change in **Preview**. If the change uses records or sign-in, test it with [the thread's own data in **Data**](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/thread-data).

After you push a backend change, check the result in **Backend**.

## Push {#push-it}

To put the pictures in your app, [push the thread](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/push).

## Next steps {#then}

To change your app's colors, fonts, and style, see [Change the look](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/change-the-look). To check every screen at once, see [Screens](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/screens).

## Troubleshooting {#if-something-goes-wrong}

If a spot still shows a placeholder after you ask for a picture, see [Gradients appear instead of pictures](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/troubleshoot-look#gradient-placeholders).
