# Troubleshoot teamwork

Fix problems with invitations, teammates' threads, permissions, and the last owner of an app.

## You didn't get an invitation email {#no-invitation-email}

**What it means:** FlutterFlow doesn't email invitations automatically. Instead, an app owner copies your invitation link and sends it to you, and the invitation also appears in FlutterFlow when you sign in with the invited email address.

**Fix it:**

1. Ask an app owner for your invitation link. FlutterFlow shows the link once and keeps it valid for seven days; if the owner lost it, they can invite you again to generate a new link.
2. If you already have a FlutterFlow account at the invited address, sign in with it. The invitation appears at the top of Home (click **Review**), and your newest invitation appears in the account menu.
3. If FlutterFlow shows **Verify email** instead of **Accept** and **Decline**, click **Verify email**, open the link in the verification email, and then accept the invitation.

Opening your invitation link directly works without email verification, as long as you sign in with the invited email address. See [Accept an invitation](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/accept-an-invitation).

## "This invitation is for {email}." {#invitation-for-another-email}

**What it means:** The [invitation](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/glossary#invitation) was sent to a different email address than the one you're signed in with. An invitation works only for the address it was sent to, and remains unused until someone accepts it with that address.

**Fix it:**

1. On the invitation page, next to **Not you?**, click **Sign out**.
2. Sign in or sign up with the email address named in the message:
   - To create a new account, click **Create an account**. You join the app during sign-up.
   - To use an existing account, click **Sign in to accept** and sign in. You join the app during sign-in.
3. To join with a different email address instead, ask an owner of the app to invite that address.

See [Accept an invitation](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/accept-an-invitation).

## "This invitation has expired." {#invitation-expired}

**What it means:** Each invitation link expires after a set time, and this link expired before you accepted it.

**Fix it:**

1. Ask an owner of the app to send a new invitation, which generates a new link.
2. Open the new link and accept the invitation.

The app's invitation list shows when each invitation expires. See [Invite teammates](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/invite).

## "That invitation link is not valid." {#invitation-link-not-valid}

**What it means:** The link doesn't match any invitation, for example because part of the link was cut off when copied. The same fix applies if the page says the link is incomplete or missing its invitation token.

**Fix it:**

1. Ask the person who invited you for the full link and open it directly.
2. If they no longer have the link, ask an owner of the app to invite you again.

## "This invitation was already {state}." {#invitation-already-answered}

**What it means:** Someone already accepted the invitation, or an owner revoked it or let it expire. An invitation link works only once.

**Fix it:**

- If the message says **accepted**, you already have a role on the app. Sign in to FlutterFlow and open the app. If an owner removed you after you accepted, ask an owner to invite you again.
- If the message says **revoked** or **expired**, ask an owner of the app to invite you again.

## "This project is no longer available." {#invitation-project-unavailable}

**What it means:** The app you were invited to is unavailable (for example, because an owner deleted it). Your invitation wasn't used.

**Fix it:** Ask an owner of the app whether it was deleted.

## You can't type in a teammate's thread {#teammates-thread}

**What it means:** Each [thread](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/glossary#thread) belongs to the person who started it. Teammates with the owner, developer, or viewer role can watch the thread live, but only the thread's creator can send messages or answer the agent's cards.

In place of the message box, a teammate's thread says "You’re watching this conversation as it happens. Only its creator can interact. Start your own thread to work on this project." When the agent waits for an answer on a card, the card says "Only" followed by the creator's name and "can answer. You can follow along."

<Mock name="teammates-thread" alt="The end of a teammate's thread, with the line You’re watching this conversation as it happens. Only its creator can interact. Start your own thread to work on this project, where the message box would be." />

**Fix it:**

- If you're an owner or a developer, click **New thread** to make changes in your own thread.
- If you're a viewer, ask an owner of the app to give you the developer role. See [You can't start a thread](#cant-start-a-thread).
- If the agent is waiting on a card in your teammate's thread, ask that teammate to answer it.

See [Work together](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/work-together).

## "You don’t have permission to do that." {#no-permission}

**What it means:** Your role on the app doesn't allow the action. Only owners and developers can start threads, and only a thread's creator can work in that thread. The message also says "Ask an owner of this project."

**Fix it:**

1. If you tried to work in a teammate's thread, start your own thread instead.
2. Otherwise, ask an owner of the app to give you a role that allows the action (such as the owner or developer role to start threads).

See [Team roles](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/roles).

## You can't start a thread {#cant-start-a-thread}

**What it means:** Only owners and developers can start threads. If your role is viewer or billing, FlutterFlow blocks new threads.

**Fix it:**

1. Ask an owner of the app to change your role to developer.
2. If you're already an owner or a developer and the thread still doesn't start, see [Troubleshoot threads](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/troubleshoot-threads).

See [Start a thread](https://docs.flutterflow.io/ffx/start-a-thread).

## You can't remove the last owner or change their role {#last-owner}

**What it means:** Every app requires at least one owner. When an app has only one owner, that owner's role menu disables the other roles and **Remove from project**, with the note "Make someone else an owner first".

**Fix it:**

1. On a computer, open **Project Settings › Team** or the **People · N** tab of the **Share** panel, click the role on another teammate's row, and make them an owner. Only owners can change roles.
2. Reopen the first owner's role menu to change their role or click **Remove from project**.
