This page lists capabilities that FlutterFlow doesn’t have, including ones from FlutterFlow Studio, and what to do instead.
Screens and logic
FlutterFlow has no manual editors for screens or logic. The agent builds them when you ask in a thread. The following table lists what you can do instead.
| Not in FlutterFlow | What you can do instead |
|---|---|
| A visual canvas for building screens by hand | Describe the change in a thread, and check it on the thread’s Screens tab. See Ask for a change. |
| An editor for actions, logic, and app state | Describe what you want the app to do in a thread. |
| An editor for colors, fonts, and styles | Describe the look you want in a thread. See Change the look. |
| A code editor for adding your own code | Paste the code in your message, or attach it as a text file, such as a .txt or .md file. You can’t attach source code files, such as .dart or .js files. See Attachments. |
| A builder for calls to any outside API | Connect a service from Project Settings › Connections. Only an app owner can connect a service. See Connect a service. |
Source code
The agent writes and updates your app’s code in threads. You can download your app’s compiled phone builds from FlutterFlow, but you can’t download or export its source code or send it to GitHub.
You can do the following instead:
- To change how your app works, ask the agent in a thread.
- To give the agent code to work from, paste it in your message or attach it as a text file.
- To download your app’s built phone files (
.apk,.aab, and.ipa), go to Releases, open the newest successful build for the platform that you want, and choose Files from the version’s options menu. See App files.
Web publishing
Share › Link publishes your app on the web. Anyone with the link can open your app in a browser. Some browsers, including those on iPhone and iPad, also show an Install button to add the app to the device. FlutterFlow assigns the link’s address.
See Share a link.
Import and export
Backend doesn’t import records from spreadsheets or CSV files, export records, or edit or delete records in bulk. Owners and developers can edit or delete live records one at a time by opening their table under Backend › Data.
Running and building
FlutterFlow has no separate run or test modes, desktop builds, or in-app purchases through the App Store or Google Play. The following table lists what you can do instead.
| Not in FlutterFlow | What you can do instead |
|---|---|
| Separate run, test, and local run modes | Try changes in the thread’s Preview tab, open your app with a share link, or install a test build on your phone. See Ways to run your app. |
| Desktop apps for macOS, Windows, or Linux | Build apps for the App Store and Google Play in Releases. |
| In-app purchases and subscriptions through the App Store or Google Play | Accept one-time payments or recurring subscriptions through Stripe Checkout. See Stripe. |
Teammates and Studio
Each thread has one author, and Studio projects don’t transfer into FlutterFlow. The following table lists what you can do instead.
| Not in FlutterFlow | What you can do instead |
|---|---|
| Editing one thread together | Only the person who started a thread can act in it. Owners, developers, and viewers can follow it in real time. To work on the same app at the same time, each owner or developer starts a separate thread. See Work together. |
| Opening a Studio project in FlutterFlow | Start a new app in FlutterFlow from a prompt. See Write a prompt. |
